Operational Matters


CCER has launched the year with some landmark achievements.  Among them, the Systemic Schools Principals’ Agreement, which will see the heads of primary schools paid the same as their colleagues in high schools.  Once approved by the Fair Work Commission (FWC) this will roll out in 10 out of 11 diocese.  It received unanimous support from all the dioceses involved and has gained some pretty positive media coverage too.  Teacher workload, class sizes and staff meetings are among other matters we’re negotiating on behalf of Catholic schools throughout NSW and Canberra.

We’re getting closer to becoming a Teacher Accreditation Authority for Highly Accomplished and Lead educators.  We’ve received the thumbs up from the Education Minister after being nominated by a number of schools.  We’re just finalising the paperwork that will create the systems needed to begin assessing, and recognising, our teachers’ achievements.

We’ve represented a number of unfair dismissal matters at the Fair Work Commission recently.  Two out of four of these were settled prior to reaching the Tribunal and we’re awaiting conciliation on the other two.

These are just some of the operational matters CCER has been working on over the last few months.  We’re also undertaking audits and creating government submissions for wage reviews.  We’ll keep you posted on those.
